When participating in an online conference, it is extremely important that participants hear each other well. Therefore, there should not be any problems with the sound in principle. The slightest problems can cause the broadcast to stop, and this also applies to cases when the user is not heard at all. Despite all the unpleasantness of the situation, there is a way out of it.

Laptops and PCs

If it is available, you need to click on it with the left mouse button, and then click on “Log in using…” in the window that opens.
If there is no button from the drawing, but the microphone icon is displayed instead, you can turn it on or off depending on the user’s wishes. If you need sound, you will have to turn on the microphone – and the problem will exhaust itself.
However, there are situations when the user is still not heard after following the recommendations described above. You will have to make certain sound settings, namely:
Click on the buttons marked below to enter the parameters page:
- Find the “Microphone” tab and deactivate the “Adjust automatically” line in It
- Set the maximum volume
- Change the input device (this is done in the same section)
- Click on “Check”.
Now you should perform the check by saying a few words. The phrase should sound in the headphones after 1-2 seconds.
If this does not happen, repeat the steps described above until the sound appears.
Now you can exit the settings and return to the online broadcast.

There are often cases when Zoom does not see the microphone – it simply does not appear in the list of devices in the app. There are different ways to solve this problem:
- Turn off and then turn on the device in a new way
- Restart Zoom
- Restart your PC
See if other communication programs, such as Skype, use the microphone. If the response is positive, all such applications should be closed.
If you have a discrete sound card installed on your computer, installing the latest driver version from the developer’s website can help you fix the problem.
In extreme cases, you need to reinstall the “Zoom”. First, it should be completely removed from the system, and then re-download and install from the official site.
Smartphones and tablets
Now let’s talk about how to solve problems with sound in Zoom on mobile devices. First, if the sound doesn’t work on your tablet or smartphone, make sure that it is enabled in the online conference. This is indicated by the icon located in the lower corner of the screen on the left.
Sometimes there is no sound in the program at all. In this case, you need to increase the volume on the device and make sure that the user is connected to the online broadcast. Otherwise, you need to click on “Connect sound”, and then click on “Call using”.
Worst of all, if the user did not grant the program access to the microphone at the time of installation. To solve the problem, you will have to reinstall Zoom.
